Science 2017 9th February

Lab Equipment and its Uses:

Glassware:

Beakers: Used to stir, heat , and measure liquid volume in ML.

Test tube: Used to mix, heat, or store substances.


Boiling tube: Used to strongly heat substances in a flame of Bunsen burner.


Conical flask (Erlenmeyer): Glassware used to heat and store substances.


Measuring Cylinder: Used to measure volume of liquid and volume and chemical for use in reactions.


Evaporating Basin: Used to evaporate excess solvents and they're commonly liquid.


Funnel: Aids in pouring liquids into small openings without spilling them.


Non Glassware

Burner: An equipment that produces a single open glass flame, used for heating, sterilisation and combustion.  

Test tube holder: Used to hold a hot test tube.

Tripod: Used as a platform to hold and support glassware, such as beakers and flasks, during experiments.


Spatula: Used for lifting, flipping, or spreading.

Test tube Rack: Used to hold test tubes.



Gauze mat: A piece of laboratory apparatus made of a flat piece of wire gauze place on a tripod to give a beaker and a flask to give support and to distribute heat.
